There are many conflicting nationalist movements within the United States. Native Americans have nationalist movements. They want land and sovereignty, and are using the courts and federal legislation often to achieve this goal. Hawaiians have nationalist movements. If you spend time there you can meet with folks who will tell you the state was illegally annexed by our government. There is a nationalist movement in Alaska and there are radical Hispanic nationalists who want the entire Southwestern United States to be independent.

I've met "White Nationalists” who want to build a White Christian republic in Montana, Oregon and Idaho, from which they told me that as a descendant of the Serpent (!) I would be excluded, along with those in the "mud races." Their reprehensible ideas have prompted many acts of criminal terrorism.

Black Nationalism is a predictable reaction to slavery and discrimination. President James Monroe in the nineteenth century tried to avert the kinds of conflict that later plagued America in race relations. He supported black nationalism and created a black nation, Liberia, in West Africa from freed slaves that hasn't turned out too well.

In the United States, a variety of extremists and totalitarians have manipulated the reasonable aspirations of African Americans for self determination and control over their own destinies.

In the nineteen twenties, Marcus Garvey, tried to organize a nationalist "return to Africa" movement.

In the nineteen thirties, the Black Muslim cult of Elijah Mohammed appeared. In distinction from traditional Islam which holds that all Muslims are equal, the Black Muslim cult teaches to this day that white people are the result of a failed experiment, that the Caucasian race is evil and that the African peoples should be segregated from the white world.

During the Second World War, Black Muslims actually supported the Japanese as fellow persons of color, and received support from the Japanese.

After the Second World War, the far left and foreign Communist powers supported Black nationalism in the United States. When the Scottsboro boys were falsely accused of rape in Alabama, the only real support came from communists in New York.

Communists supported the Black Panther Party, the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and far left radical organization known as The Republic of New Africa, whose founder hijacked a plane and fled to Cuba and then China to avoid problems with police in North Carolina. The Chinese (in the 1960's when Mao was in power) allowed him to make radio broadcasts to this country to urge the creation of a new country for black people in the deep south.

The current strain for black nationalist thinking is to identify with Arab nationalism. The religion and/or politics of Arab slave traders who still buy and sell black people today, who massacre black people in Darfur and who killed Black Americans in the World Trade Center, has a fascination for the Farrakhan’s and Jeremiah Wrights and their followers.

And of course they will say Israel is a racist state. Never mind that Israel has spent a fortune rescuing black Jews of Yemen and Ethiopia and integrating them into Israeli society. Whatever the murderous thugs of the Arab world who fight "imperialism" say must be true, in the world of a Jeremiah Wright. The Obama campaign has numerous apologists for Arab terror as advisors and supporters.

The anti-Semitism and politics of hysteria of the Arabs has been integrated into the world view of Obama's church, together with the socialism of the days gone by. We cannot believe that Mr. Obama, after being in the church for twenty years, is not a sympathizer, despite his protests to the contrary.

We cannot believe that if he tolerates Cuban flags and Che Guevara posters in campaign offices he is not some how a far left kind of guy. In fact, Obama was recently exposed as having friendships with convicted felons from the now defunct radical SDS Weatherman faction, which bombed banks and draft boards in the nineteen sixties and who slavishly followed Marxist dogma.

The white liberals who still support him are wittingly or not turning on their country and its values. By supporting Obama they tell us that they believe in the magical promises of somebody who has been influenced his whole life by charlatans. This kind of shallow and naive thinking is from people who refuse to study history, refuse to investigate, and refuse to appreciate the importance of American values, especially the Constitution.

While we have our flaws as a nation, black people here have the highest standard of living of any black people in world. Throughout Africa, in Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria and the Congo, Africans want green cards to come to this horrible "racist" society. Black nationalism, or any other form of bitter separatism, should logically lose its momentum when capitalism is open to all.

Those "racist" Republicans who mistreat Black people so poorly have anointed two of them, Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice, as Secretaries of State. In this economic environment, despite our problems, America abounds with black millionaires.

Nevertheless, the lemmings are following their pied piper off the cliff. The magical thinking that Obama will save America is a belief with as much validity as the Great Pumpkin, and represents the same immature and irrational logic. 

One who resents America simply will not do a good job in leading her or protecting her interests.
