WHY VOTE REPUBLICAN? PDF Print E-mail

There are three main issues in the coming presidential election ....

.... which will have a tremendous impact on the quality of life and the safety of  Americans over the next several decades.

These issues include immigration, the war on terror and the economy. In many aspects, these issues intersect each other. But the important point is that there are distinctly Republican perspectives on these issues and distinctly Democratic perspectives on these issues. Clearly, the Republican perspective is better for America.

A widespread and valid sentiment has emerged over the past several years which recognize the challenge to American society jobs and the cost of living wrought by illegal aliens. Reportedly, 30 million illegal aliens live in the United States. The grievances include that they do not pay taxes; they take jobs Americans need, and drive up the cost of health insurance by free loading off our health care system. Compounding this resentment is that, unlike previous waves of immigrants who melted into mainstream America, the illegal aliens among us don't try to assimilate. They live for years in immigrant communities and rarely learn English.

Many are on public assistance. Worse, many are involved in criminal activity which truly threatens all of our well being. A day does not pass when one does not hear somewhere of an illegal alien committing a criminal act against the lives or  property of American citizens.

Still worse, illegal aliens may present the danger of a Fifth column within the United States. Many come from Communist China, which is indisputably a rival to America with the real potential for future conflict. Others come from the Arab Middle East and are susceptible to the propaganda of terrorist organizations which prey on their frustrations and gullibility.

Those same poorly patrolled borders that allow illegal aliens to cross, also allow possible terrorists into America. Only one is needed to build dirty bombs or bacteria bombs that can kill millions of people.

Republican candidates offer serious and practical solutions to immigration and the question of borders.

Former Governor Romney, for example, entered into an agreement while governor with the federal immigration enforcement officials to allow the Massachusetts state police to enforce immigration laws.

He is a strong advocate of building a security fence along our borders and increased electronic surveillance.

Other candidates within the Republican Party, such as Ron Paul and Senator Mc Cain, have taken similar positions.

But Barack Hussein Obama has endorsed a program to make illegal immigrants legal over a term of years, essentially rewarding their illegal conduct. This can be verified by visiting his website and a speech he gave in the Senate on April 3, 2006.

Under Republican leadership, no terrorist incidents of any consequence have occurred in America since 9-11. The invasion of Iraq has concentrated Al Qaeda's efforts eight thousand miles a way in Baghdad.

The regime of Saddam Hussein is gone.. There should be no doubt that Hussein's regime supported terrorism. The criminal dictator gave $35,000 each to the families of Palestinian suicide bombers and safe haven to Abu Nidal, whose thugs kidnapped OPEC ministers meeting in Vienna, shot up an airport in Rome and a synagogue in Istanbul. He provided have safe haven
to the murderer of Leon Klinghoefer who was brutally drowned by Arab thugs when they seized the Achille Lauro cruise ship. Saddam Husssein hired East German scientists to design chemical weapons which he used to murder tens of thousands of Kurdish civilians.

Destroying his regime was a necessary act for both human rights and world security. Until she became a Presidential candidate and pandered to her party's left, Ms. Clinton supported this war.

But Barack Hussein Obama opposed the war. Many other Democrats have undermined our efforts and given aid and comfort to the enemy by relentlessly criticizing the war and by demanding an official time table be set for withdrawal, information our enemies would obviously want.

It was the Democratic Secretary of State, Madeline Albright, who received an offer from the government of Sudan to take Osama Bin Laden into custody. She rejected it because President Clinton was preoccupied with his many scandals. Richard Miniter's book “Losing Bin Laden" fully explains the failings of the Clinton White House with respect to Al Qaeda.

We now live with the aftermath of Bill Clinton's negligence, and over 3000 dead on American soil.

Republicans offer sensible solutions to economic challenges as well.

Uniformly, Republican candidates offer tax relief to Americans. Governor Huckabee has advocated replacing the income tax with a tax on consumption. This change would allow us more freedom to decide how to spend our own money, and reward thrift.

Congressman Ron Paul has elaborately explained how inflation is a hidden tax on Americans caused by the Federal Reserve. By placing immense quantities of paper money into circulation, the value of our currency has been debased. As a consequence our cost of living constantly rises. Mr. Paul's views on inflation are important. His solution would be the return of gold as currency.

Democratic politicians squander our wealth on non-productive bureaucracies and programs which encourage dependency. When there is a choice between government regulation and the marketplace as regulator, Democrats always chose government.

Not surprisingly, India and China have ascending economies while America's economy falls. This situation has not arisen in a vacuum. While India and China's governments ally with business, America's bureaucrats and Congress often assume an adversarial role against business. This is in fact a continuing legacy of the Roosevelt New Deal which still permeates Democratic thinking. So of course jobs are outsourced, money is invested abroad and the economy has faltered.

It would be folly to allow a Democrat in the White House if we want to restore our economy have  safe and secure borders and  win the War on Terror.
