Back on 29 April, 2009 , I wrote a column about our dependency on foreign oil.

The Department of Energy was established 32 years ago under Jimmy Carter (arguably the worst president in history at least till now).

The objective was to get us off  foreign oil dependency, but today that agency has grown to 13,973 government employees, and 93,094 contract employees with an annual budget in the billions.

Today we import approximately 60% of our oil from overseas, and are no nearer to being free of foreign oil than we were 32 years ago.

I will ask just one question before I move on to the bombshell reason for today’s column.

What have these bums been doing at DOE to justify all that taxpayer money being spent on salaries and whatever else they can think to squander it on for the last 32 years? 

President Bush was briefed in 2005 about the potential energy find and mandated work to be commenced but once again the tree huggers got in the way, and for three more years zilch.

Fast forward to 2008: Thanks to new more accurate technology, The U.S. Geological Service announced in 2008, that an area known as the Williston Basin (commonly referred to as the Bakken), an area that encompasses the western  2/3rds of North and South Dakota and extreme eastern Montana contains the largest domestic oil discovery since Prudhoe Bay in Alaska.

The Energy Information Administration (EIA) estimates it at 503 billion barrels of light sweet crude (the best kind) it would cost Americans $16.00 per barrel, and  even if only 10% is recoverable at $107.00 per barrel, That is a resource worth $5.3 trillion dollars.

    The USA citizens are  sitting on:  8 times as much oil as Saudi Arabia

                                18 times as much oil as Iraq

                                21 times as much oil as Kuwait

                                22 times as much oil as Iran

                                500 times as much oil asYemen

And it is all right here in the Western United States .

That is enough oil to fuel the country for 2041 years straight.

HOW can this be? How can we NOT BE Drilling and extracting this.

1 simple answer: The environmentalists (the stinking tree huggers) those obstructionist idiots need a size 10D boot square in their butt.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how this nation can let a small group of morons who are more interested in the breeding ground of some animal or bird than the welfare of our country, strangle this country in such a manner.
