by Aaron Cantor It would appear that the "Anointed One" is knee deep in cow pies. Let's all see, Obama predicted a 7 trillion dollar deficit. Well now it turns out to be more like $9 trillion dollars. That is more than the sum of all previous deficits since the USA was founded. His advisers are telling him that unemployment is headed toward 10%, and the economy will shrink by 2.5 to 2.8% this year. Given all this less than happy news, the "anointed One" has some serious challenges both long term and short term on his plate., and the response to all of this from his economic adviser Christina Romer, was, "this recession was SIMPLY worse than the information I had back last fall and early winter". Peter Orszag, Obama's budget director came up with "well the long term deficits ARE higher than desirable". Oh, I see, you two as economists didn't see this train wreck coming? Perhaps Ms. Romer and Mr. Orszag should look for a new line of work (take Barack with you when you go). The annual negative balances amount to approximately 4% of the gross domestic product, a number that most economists agree is UNSUSTAINABLE. I keep hearing that Obama is supposed to be the smartest guy in the room, it doesn't look like it to me. I have a rather novel idea, instead of going on vacation to Martha's Vineyard and letting the world know what books you intend to read while you are there, and playing golf (which I hear you are not too good at), why don't you try reading those bills you are trying to shove down our throat. Better yet, stay in your office and try to get some real work done, you can take a vacation when you have bloody well earned one. I get the very distinct impression that these people, Congress and the WhiteHouse, frantically and in their need for speed, are more or less making it up as they go along. How on earth can you be off by $2 trillion dollars? That is really and clearly overshooting the American runway. Might I suggest, instead of spending more and more money which we don't have, start cutting spending, 15% budget cuts in all government departments and agencies with the exception of Dept. of Defense, social security checks, and military retirement checks. Also, at least a 25% cut in congressional pay and benefits including all their staffers as well. They seem to want us to do our fair share to reduce the deficit, what about the Congressional hired hands doing THEIR fair share as well? The really scary thing to me is, that by the end of the next decade, (ten years), the national debt will equal 3/4 of the entire U.S. economy. Also: I read that Obama doesn't want the Attorney General to go forward with the CIA investigation, but my take on that is, it is a cheap magicians trick of misdirection, keep the rubes busy watching the left hand while the right hand is doing the dirty work somewhere else. Nice try but in reality, if Obama didn't want Holder to go forward with this, all he would have to do is pick up the phone. Just how naive does this jerk think we are? Same thing goes for the re-appointment of Ben Bernanke he didn't have to wait to announce it at the vacation White House, which again is designed to take our attention away from all of these problems including the town hall meetings, the tenor of which is getting louder and angrier by the day.
