I read this article about Torin Wolf, another Iraq veteran "expert"-who is a nurse- that the leftist truther 9/11 conspiracy theorists have just trotted out, and literally started to laugh. .... ...Partly because the producer of Loose Change (the truther film), Korey Rowe, 24, was arrested for deserting the Army just a few days ago, and .... Right on the heels of Scott Thomas Beauchamp's debacle and meltdown at TNR , this dude Gibbwake steps up here at National Writers Syndicate, publishing an article using Wolf's military service as a soapbox to announce to the world that 9/11 was an inside job. This is what I call great timing. These guys are getting DESPERATE! Although I don't think the 9/11 truther message is anything new, all you have to do is go to a Cindy Sheehan anti-war protest and you'll see their t-shirts and hear their message. This isn't 'latest news', although if people aren't aware of "Loose Change" by the 9/11 Truther movement, I suppose it might be. This should be in the 'propaganda' category for conspiracy nuts. Popular Mechanics has an article debunking the 9/11 truth movements claims, here. He reminds me of Rosie O'Donnell when he says that fire can't melt steel, and he shows even more cluelessness when he seems to make the assumption that demolition crews were not present in the aftermath of 9/11.
Popular Mechanics responded with the scientific explanation for the collapse of WTC 7. You might also want to check out their book, Debunking 9/11 Myths.-which comes highly recommended. Tim Sumner has more evidence of Rosie O'Donnell's ignorance. While Rosie is no 'expert' maybe the claim that Wolf is an expert will make a difference and get people to accept the same pile of rubbish. After all, Lenin said if you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes truth. My friend Brendan (from Australia) who writes here at Voice of the Pacific wrote this in email:
Then we have GM Roper, who writes at GM's Corner who's a licensed professional counselor:
Here are some experts on building demolitions at www.implosionworld.com. In fact, these are the demolition experts who took down the remains of Tower #6 and helped clean up the area at ground zero after the buildings fell. Do you suppose Wolf found an opportunity to look at their data? I would think not. Because Protec's business is building demolition, and they recorded the seismic ground vibrations in Manhattan and Brooklyn during the timeframe of the attacks at ground zero. In fact, more detailed seismic readings were recorded by the Columbia University's Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory and combined with Protec's, which gave a purely scientific unfiltered view of each event. These demolition experts took countless photographs and video of what they were doing, and although they were doing it because that's what they do for their work, these images and documentation provide substantial visual evidence that goes beyond conspiracy theories and hearsay. They actually wrote a paper on the towers collapses, which can be accessed here. The bottom line is, with the recent debacle and exposure of the Iraq PFC Scott Thomas Beauchamp at The New Republic, whose stories have been exposed as fraudulent, Jesse MacBeth who turned out to be a fraud, and numerous others, it shouldn't come as a surprise that we would have another truther-style veteran come out and say that 9/11 was an inside job. At least he didn't join up with Code Pink whose members stand outside of Walter Reed and tell passersby who've lost legs or limbs and their family members that they were 'maimed for a lie'--although by glomming onto the truther movement that is, in essence, what he's saying. Leftists in general seem to be desperate to persuade veterans to claim one or a combination of things: 1) that people in uniform are committing war crimes, 2) or show that our government is evil and 'that's why they hate us', 3) that's why we should not support our kids who want to enlist, 4) that's why we should keep the ROTC off University campuses and 5) that's why our country is not worth living or dying for. In fact, contrary to media reports, there was a terrorist/Saddam connection as you can see here at Hussein and Terror, and there was an Osama Bin Laden/Saddam connection as you can see and hear here, and we even found WMD. Amerinds are very proud of their warrior culture, even though they seem to be incredibly leftist in their politics. Even though a majority of them are against the war, an inordinate number of them have signed up to go to Iraq and Afghanistan. But we also have the flipside of the same equation. We have AIM, Ward Churchill (who isn't even a real amerind), who said the victims of 9/11 were "little Eichmanns" and deserved what they got. We also have Leonard Peltier, who ran for president on the communist party ticket (excuse me - Peace and Freedom Party) from prison, to make a political point. You can go to any protest and see that United for Peace and Justice, International Answer, Code Pink, and other marxist type organizations are working together to destroy our will to fight, why should a veteran like Gibbwake who bought into the theory be any different? It's not like he's any different than John Murtha.
Although it's interesting to see this guy trotted out as some kind of moral authority because he served in Iraq, I hardly see what the connection is between his service in Iraq and his drawing the conclusion that 9/11 was an inside job. Is it supposed to make him more believable after Jesse MacBeth and all the other frauds that have been trotted out on that side of the argument? This is the Winter Soldier all over again, and frankly, I don't have time for it. See the great blog Screw Loose Change and go through the links... Also see this website, exploding the 9/11 Conspiracy Myths. Computer Modeling of Collapse of World Trade Center Towers Mike Walter illustrates how conspiracy theorists take peoples quotes out of context. This is just one of many examples of quote mining from the "Truth" movement. In their paper, Protec describes what people saw versus what would have been there if explosives had been present. Further, on pp. 11 & 12 of their paper:
